The akuratemp™ ATS2 is a multi-use biological specimen transport kit utilizing phase change technology to protect from heat and keep the payload temperature below +25°C (+77°F). These kits are independently tested as per ISTA 7D 24 Hour Summer Profile. They are integrated with a TagBox™ sensor to provide cloud-based real-time temperature monitoring and end-to-end traceability. These specimen transport kits ensure temperature stability and real-time monitoring during transportation to minimize specimen rejection.
Applications:
The akuratemp™ ATS2 is ideal for heat protection of diagnostic and clinical trial specimens during their transportation.
How It Works:
The akuratemp™ ATS2 is filled with an eco-friendly +22°C (+77°F) phase change material. The thermal energy is absorbed as heat when the material changes state from solid to liquid. This keeps the specimen temperature stable and below +25°C during the phase change process. The insulation material, PCM type and PCM quantity are sized to deliver a 24 hour holdover time tested to the ISTA 7D Summer Profile.
Features:
- Multi-use kit with cloud-based real-time temperature monitoring
- Simple packout
- Keeps biological specimens from overheating
- Independently tested to ISTA 7D 24 Hour Summer Profile
- Maintains specimen integrity in case of transit delays
- Maintains the specimen within safe temperatures during missed courier pickups
- Fits into FedEx® Clinical Pak* for economical overnight courier

ATS2-22PB5-24 Technical Performance Summary
Objective:
To carry out environmental conditioning of akuratemp™ ATS2 Specimen Transport Kit to maintain a controlled temperature range of 15°C to 25°C for 24 hours when exposed to the ISTA 7D-24 Hour Summer Profile.
Charging of the PCM Plates:
The PCM plates were charged by placing them on a metal tray in a refrigerator set at +2°C to +8°C for at least 24 hours prior to pack out. After charging, the plates were placed at room temperature (+15°C to +20°C ) for at least 2 hours.
Pack out:
For the ISTA 7D-24 Hour Summer run, the chamber was equipped with a data probe. A second data probe was placed in a Ziploc bag and then placed in the payload cavity of the fist PCM plate. A second PCM plate was placed on top of the first plate and the two were affixed together with a velcro band that is part of the kit. The plates were then inserted into the insulated and metalized poly envelope of the case provided, and the case was sealed with tape.
