The akuratemp™ ATS is a unique eutectic plate that incorporates a secure specimen payload area and dedicated space for a temperature sensor. The eutectic plates utilize Phase Change Technology to provide precise temperature control. The specimen payload area is carved within the eutectic plates for efficient temperature control and specimen safety during storage and transportation. TagBox™ sensor is integrated to provide cloud based real time monitoring of payload temperature and tracking its geo-location.

Applications: 

The akuratemp™ ATS Eutectic Plates are ideal for storage and transportation of diagnostic and clinical trial specimens. They provide thermal backup during power outages, lab to lab movement of specimens and temperature control during long distance transportation without breaking the specimen cold chain. The akuratemp™ ATS1 is a multi-use biological specimen transport kit that utilizes phase change technology to protect from freezing and keeps the specimen temperature above +15°C (+59°F). These kits are independently tested to the ISTA 7D 24 Hour Winter Profile. They are integrated with a TagBox™ sensor to provide cloud-based real-time temperature monitoring and end-to-end traceability. These specimen transport kits ensure temperature stability and real time monitoring during transportation to minimize specimen rejection.

How It Works: 

The akuratemp™ ATS1 is filled with an eco-friendly +18°C (+65°F) phase change material. Thermal energy is released as heat when the material changes state from liquid to solid. This keeps the specimen temperature stable and above +15°C during the phase change process. The insulation material, PCM type and PCM quantity are sized to deliver a 24 hr holdover time.

ATS1-18PB5-24 Technical Performance Summary

Objective:

To carry out environmental conditioning of akuratemp™ ATS1 Specimen Transport Kit to maintain a controlled temperature range of 15°C to 25°C for 24 hours when exposed to the ISTA 7D-24 Hour Winter Profile.   

Charging of the PCM Plates: 

The PCM plates were charged by placing them on a metal tray in an environmental chamber set at 23°C +/- 2°C for at least 24 hours prior to pack out.

Pack out:  

For the ISTA 7D-24 Hour Winter run, the chamber was equipped with a data probe. A second data probe was placed in a Ziploc bag and then placed in the payload cavity of the first PCM plate. A second PCM plate was placed on top of the first plate and the two were affixed together with a velcro band that is part of the kit. The plates were then inserted into the PUF insulated base of the case provided and the case was sealed with tape.

Pack out:

How It Works:

The akuratemp™ ATS3 is filled with a combination of  eco-friendly +22°C (+77°F) and +18°C (+65°F) phase change materials. The Ambient Pack is solid at packout and releases cold energy as it liquifies, absorbing heat. This cooling effect keeps the payload below +25°C. The CRT pack is liquid at packout, releasing heat during phase change from liquid to solid. This warming effect keeps the payload above +15°C. The insulation material, PCM type and PCM quantity are sized to deliver a 24 hour holdover time in Summer, with a greater than 23 hour holdover time in Winter.

Objective:

To carry out environmental conditioning of ATS3 Specimen Transport Kit to maintain a controlled temperature range of 15°C to 25°C for 24 hours when exposed to the ISTA 7D-24 Hour Summer and Winter Profiles.   

Charging of the PCM Plates: 

The PCM Ambient Packs were charged by placing them on a metal tray in a refrigerator set at +2°C to +8°C for at least 24 hours prior to pack out. After charging the plates were placed at room temperature (+15°C to +20°C) for at least 2 hours. The PCM CRT Packs were charged by placing them on a metal tray in an environmental chamber set at 23°C +/- 2°C for at least 24 hours prior to pack out. 

Pack out:  

The ATS3 Specimen Transport Kit was packed out for both profiles by placing one Ambient pack in the base of the PUF shipper. The CRT saddle pack was placed on top of the Ambient pack with the data probe placed in between the CRT pack halves. An Ambient Pack was then placed on top of the CRT saddle pack. The PUF lid was closed and secured with a velcro strap.

The TagBox™ Data Monitoring Network is a comprehensive and secure cloud-based software system that instantly populates the Track & Sensor Data to a Central Monitoring Platform in real time. The single-parameter sensor tracks temperature with geo-locations while multi-parameter sensor tracks temperature, relative humidity, vibration and light penetration along with geo-location. All data is transmitted via bluetooth to an app on a smartphone or the gateway. The software is engineered with Artificial Intelligence to create “smart notifications” if it senses a temperature excursion or anticipates a malfunction based on the temperature performance curve.
